How do i know if this guy likes me?

He's my bestfriends friend, and i've met him once in real life, and that was at my friend's party and he introduced (lets name this guy Kyle) Kyle to me. im really shy, so of course i didnt say much, but luckily he was pretty out going even though he sometimes has his shy moments. He moved away 4 months ago and since then we've been talking through msn, facebook and this game called maplestory. He lives in British Columbia and I live in Alberta, so luckily i might be able to see him during the summer :) UUH... on maplestory (if you dont know what it is, its this online gamee where you can meet new people and create a character with any job you want such as mage, warrior, theif, bowman etc) we hang out a lot and its usually him that comes to me when he wants to hang out and hes mostly talking to me instead of his buds. on msn we talk atleast twice a week, sometimes i have to start the conversation and sometimes he does. this one time he invited me to a group chat with his friends in bc, and his friends were like, 'hey Kyle, whos this?' and Kyle was like 'oh this is __. my girlfriend' even though that was false o-o actually im not even sure. i replied back saying 'whaaat?! nooo :(' and he was like 'jkjk. but in a way its true' and his friends started talking about me and how he's grown up. .__. he always likes to flirt and tell everyone we're going out even though we dont. Everytime we talk or chill in maplestory we're always making fun of each other or we flirt. also my friends always tell me that he likes me because this one time he said something funny yet mean to me and i messaged him on his fb wall saying 'ihateyouihateyouihateyou' over and over again, and he said 'iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou<3' over and over again too. and everytime my friends talk to me, he somehow brings me up...and then lies about us dating again. lawl. and im slowly starting to develope feelings for him. how do i know if he likes me or now? and i most definetly dont want to tell him how i feel, and i know i have to at some point but im pretty sure ill tell him when i atleast know whether he likes me or not. and im afraid that if i tell him he wont talk to me, and if he does like me, hes that type of guy who ignores that person after he's found out that they like him back. :\
