Should I get hepatitis B vaccination before a tattoo?

I am unsure how common it is to get a hepatitis B vaccination before getting a tattoo? I have been told by my family (who have no tattoos) that I should definitely get a vaccination beforehand. Yet others have told me it just matters that I choose a professional/clean tattoo parlor after doing some research about them. I plan on being very careful and thorough about choosing where to get my tattoo, so how important is it that I get vaccinated?
